As a special episode of my You Can Be Found Anywhere series, I was at the finish line of the NJ Marathon this past weekend, being inspired by the amazing people that put a training plan together, stuck to it, and pushed through the pain and finished either a half or full marathon on that day.
SEO links well with long distance running. As a runner myself, I understand that you have to pace yourself. When I first started running I would often start out too fast on these longer runs. You can’t do that with a marathon or with SEO. It takes a steady and consistent plan and hard work. However, when you do it right, it really pays off with success and accomplishment over the long haul. The one big difference between SEO and marathon running is that there is a finish line with the marathon. Though SEO is great and continues to work as you add to it, there is no finish line. You have to keep at it, follow the rules, and adjust over time to technological advances and changes in the algorithm. For the most part if you are working at providing the best experience for your customers through your web presence you will be in good shape, by providing great content, a good user experience, and an easy path to helping customers resolve their problems.
A special thank you to Ted Friedli and Kick Cancer Overboard, for letting my friends and I volunteer at the finish line, while at the same time supporting his very helpful charity that helps families dealing with cancer. Learn more about Ted and his organization here.
