Last Friday I had the honor to sponsor and speak at the General Membership Meeting of the Suburban Chamber of Commerce at the Berkeley Heights Town Hall. The chamber serves the Summit, New Providence, and Berkeley Heights areas and is a high energy group with lots of great things going on to help the local businesses and community.
I was able to discuss with the group the top things to focus on in 2018 to get your website ranking highly for those important keyword terms that your customers are using to find you. We touched on the importance of links, load speed, mobile friendliness, and security. I was also able to answer some members individual questions, as the world of Google and SEO can be very confusing to those that aren’t working in it every day.
The core presentation can be found here in PDF form, if you want it for your records. With the ever-changing world of SEO, it can be difficult to know what is important and what is just sales pitches. I do my best to outline what is important and offer help to those who want it, but if you have the time and capabilities to handle the process yourself, you have at least learned what to focus your time on, so you don’t waste it chasing fake priorities.
Speaking to Your Business Group
I know SEO and the internet is one of the toughest thing for business owners to understand when trying to succeed at what they do best. I have been speaking to business groups for over a decade and trying to relay what is important in a language that you can more easily understand and apply for your own business. Feel free to reach out if you’d like me to speak to your group or organization, or come in for individual instruction to marketing departments or staff. I take pride in either “teaching you to fish” or doing the whole process for you. Whichever best suits your organization. My talks are not designed to be hard sells but are meant to be informative, so you can go home having learned something that will help you right away.
